8/2(2+2) = 1 because thats the IQ and amount of brain cells @Komokid has
8/2(2+2) = 1 because thats the IQ and amount of brain cells @Komokid has
8/2(2+2) = 1 because thats the IQ and amount of brain cells @Komokid has
so yay, i got it right. :D
He asked "What is 8/2(2+2)?", not "What is the simplified form of the expression 8/2(2+2)?"
The correct answer to the question by the OP is "an expression".
8/2(2+2)
BODMAS
=8/2(4) [Solving brackets first 2+2]
=4*4 [We do division before multiplication]
=16
PEMDAS
=8/2(4) [Solving brackets first 2+2]
=8/8 [ We do multiplication before division here ]
=1
As I said PEMDAS is obsolete therefore 16 is the right answer.
@clousems he obviously meant that he needs the answer for that equation.....
Btw ,I admire your usage of words and grammar in general.
How do you have such a good vocabulary ?
BODMAS and PEMDAS should both produce the same result so long as you were taught multiplication & division have the same priority just as addition and subtraction have the same priority. Absent any notation to indicate otherwise they're done left-to-right. I'd say maybe they'd better written as B,O,DM,AS and P,E,MD,AS but that probably still wouldn't drive home the shared priority.
#35: Short answer: I'm a pedantic nerd who finished Le Morte D'Arthur and The Iliad by fourth grade, yet only discovered sports in high school.
Is #34 incorrect ? I feel BODMAS is standard.
The answer is 16
If I recall correctly, multiplication/division and addition/subtraction take place in the order that they appear, so PEMDAS and BEDMAS are equivalent
