#11 @DrZwischenzug for a doctor you don't seem to be very quick on the uptake. I told you the advantage in my OP and repeated it a couple times for others that can't read.

It's simple: You don't get that information when playing over the board, so you shouldn't get it when playing online either.
Other reasons have already been stated. It can be unintentionally helpful to the players. Sometimes the name will reveal the intention of the line (gambits, traps, etc). Sometimes it will remind players of what the opening is, even though players should remember on their own.
And are there any benefits that you don't get from studying the games afterward? Nope.
So with multiple potential additional problems, and no additional benefits, it's not a good idea to show the opening names while the game is happening.

@16 @htt49 Why don't you go to chess.com? This is a feedback forum for people to give their feedback and suggestions for improvement. If you don't ljike that kind of discussion then why are you reading it?

@Linspiring I'm saying, if you hate that this website doesn't have that feature, then why not go to another website that has it?
Can you be more polite?

As I said to the other person who used that nonsense argument, there are LOTS of ways online chess is different than OTB. You want it to be exactly the same in only this ONE WAY? Why?
In OTB we have to hit the clock, here it's done for you. In OTB you can't premove here you can. They could not have those features and still have online chess but they CHOOSE TO HAVE THEM because most people feel t makes the experience better. You can understand that reasoning for literally everything else but when it comes to this idea for some reason your brain stops working?
"Other reasons have already been stated."
And I've already refuted those other reasons or pointed out they are trivial. I'll remind you again, opening names don't have the word "trap" in them. Sure there is sometimes a tiny hint you can get but it's very insignificant compared to the good of becoming chess literate.
And again, you repeat yourself. with your last argument. Ok, after this I'm not going to write fresh material for you every time you repeat yourself , this is the last time. In the future I will copy paste the answers to the exact same failed arguments that you have already said that have been addressed.
There are two benefits to learning the opening name during the game over learning it in the analysis board.
- It's much more convenient.
1a. Often times we dont' even do the analysis board so totally wasted opportunity. Do you do analysis board 100% of the time?
- You REMEMBER it BETTER when you get information at the time that the question comes up than if you learn the answer at some point later on.
Ok I'm ready for you to keep repeating yourself, My copy pasta fingers are ready and primed.
