@DrZwischenzug #8 You can always find some nit picky reason to shoot something down and be negative but the question is do the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. And such any such advantage is rather small, and available to both sides the answer to this question is clearly YES!

@ZugzwangRL
You actually learn during games AND in the post game analysis. To throw away half of learning is a horrible idea. In fact you learn better, for the same reason the best way to learn a foreign language is in immersion studies.

Am i missing something or are the only advantages not falling for traps?

Just think about it, you can always see the opening AFTER the game, if you dint know, no one tells you what opening you are playing OTB.

@Linspiring If you really love this feature so much, why don't you just go to chess.com? Nobody's stopping you.

Linspiring, you don't deserve a response due to your rude behavior but I'll give you one anyways.
Why is it so important to know the opening name while in a game? What prevents you from going to the analysis board post-game to see the opening name as well as view your mistakes and conduct other analysis etc. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't accomplish the same result.

i wholy agree with #10. In between games is the time to learn and games r for u to put what u learned into practice. Reached 2000 blitz without really remembering opening names, i just remember the opening and play it. I only remember common openings or those i play. e.g. If i play Sicilian (i do) then i would remember Sicilian dragon, etc. And yes, showing opening names DURING games might give away traps, and its just not necessary.
EDIT: what i mean by "i just remember the opening" is that i remember the moves and what i shld do and think, but not really remember the name

The opening trap indication is vastly overestimated if you just realize that opening names don't have the word 'trap' in them. Even ones where there is a sacrifice and it's named, it doesn't imply trap. It could just be positional compensation. This is a made up argument.

"if you dint know, no one tells you what opening you are playing OTB."
And that's what we would call an ADVANTAGE of playing online.
If it's so horrible to have an advantage that makes something nicer by playing online, I trust that you never play at home, that you get dressed and go to an internet cafe to play chess online. Wouldn't want to have the advantage of convenience. I could list a lot of advantages of online play that you probably enjoy, and those dont' seem to bother you.
