u can get rid of it in settings
go to the "chess clock" section, and toggle off the option that says "Sound when time gets critical"

№ 39,

I always play with an increment. When I play classical (as opposed to correspondence — in which time wasting is a non issue, as one can walk away from the game, sleep on it even), I usually play 30+20. 😉 So the answer to your question is yes.

FWIW, I am well acquainted with the need to think during chess. I myself am quite a slow player. (I have never even tried bullet; the few blitz games I played were bewildering enough.) Although, thanks to the warning & ban the possibility of such behavior worries me less now than it once did. And after all I, too, am capable of reading a book while I wait. 😇 (The difference is I’m waiting for my opponent, not reading while he’s waiting for me.)

I have also learned, after a substantial pause, to refresh my browser, lest I find out later my last move was never sent to the server. 😑 (This happened to me once, and I was flabbergasted. So it wasn’t his fault after all . . . but surely it wasn’t mine either, since I had moved, and the board & clock had updated on my end. So whose fault was it? 🤔)

@BACollin

Ya that's a good start. I might try that. But sometimes I do like chat. For a work around it is decent. Thanks!

@picchiolu

I think you all extrapolated this discussion all by yourselves. If you think about it, it could have just been solved by asking questions about the topic just in case I didn't express well enough. Instead a group of people decided to debate about what they believe the topic is about. What's worse? Again I thought it was entertaining, but blaming the original post of others misinterpretation is probably wrong. Because while some miscommunication could come from my original post, everyone else who participated also had bad communication to not try to get the idea of what the post is about.

I know it's easier to blame someone else or blame original posts. But in this case it's a little more likely it's everyone involved. I did try a few times to correct but noticed y'all just wanted to battle. Again was entertaining.

@MeWantCookieMobile my remark was intended to be playful but I understand why it hasn't come across that way. You have a good point when you say I should have asked for clarification about the original question instead of assuming I had gotten it right.

@picchiolu

I leave that open to the possibility. It's one reason I generalized the comment rather than point it at anyone in particular.

We can still have productive outcomes in any debate needed or not and still have levity. :-)

But after all this discussion nobody said anything about the maximum thinking time allowed: how long my last unplayed move can be without me getting a warning.
