What's with all the whining here? A player has the right to resign. Put on your big boy pants and move on. It's just a game - on the internet yet. Li'l Puppet sez chillax.
Apropos „descriptive notation“. Inspired by Donner‘s weird story I published 2014 a game of mine in Donner‘s distorted style to „encrypt“ it:
The first move of the Whites:
The Queen's Pawn advances two Squares
The first move of the Blacks:
The King's Knight jumps to the King's Bishop's Third Square
The second move of the Whites:
The Queen's Knight jumps to the Queen's Bishop's Third Square
The second move of the Blacks:
The King's Knight Pawn advances one Square
The third move of the Whites:
The King's Pawn advances two Squares
The third move of the Blacks:
The Queen Pawn advances one Square
The fourth move of the Whites:
The King's Bishop's Pawn advances two Squares
The fourth move of the Blacks:
The King's Bishop positions himself on the King's Knight's second Square
The fifth move of the Whites:
The King's Knight jumps to the King's Bishop's third Square
The fifth move of the Blacks:
The Queen's Bishop's Pawn advances two Squares
The sixth move of the Whites:
The King's Bishop positions himself on the fifth Square of the Queen's Knight announcing echec.
The sixth move of the Blacks:
The Queen's Bishop positions himself on the Queen's second Square
The seventh move of the Whites:
The King's Pawn advances one Square
The seventh move of the Blacks:
The King's Knight jumps to the King's Knight fifth Square
The eight move of the Whites:
The King's Pawn advances one Square
The eight move of the Blacks:
The King Bishop's Pawn captures the White Pawn
The nineth move of the Whites:
The King's Knight jumps to the King's Knight fifth Square
The nineth move of the Blacks:
The Queen's Bishop captures the Black Bishop
The tenth move of the Whites:
The King's Knight captures the Black King's Pawn
The tenth move of the Blacks:
The King's Bishop captures the Black Pawn
The eleventh move of the Whites:
The King's Knight captures the Black Queen
The eleventh move of the Blacks:
The King's Bishop positions himself on the King Bishop's seventh square announcig echec.
The twelfth move of the Whites:
The King occupies the Queen's second Square
The twelfth move of the Blacks:
The King's Bishop positions himself on the King's sixth square announcig echec.
The thirteenth move of the Whites:
The King occupies the King's first Square
The thirteenth move of the Blacks:
The King's Bishop positions himself on the King Bishop's seventh square announcig echec
The fourteenth move of the Whites:
The King occupies the Queen's second Square
The fourteenth move of the Blacks:
The King's Bishop positions himself on the King's sixth square announcig echec.
These moves having thus been repeated several times, an impasse was recorded.
algebraic is not intuitive and is hard to use
it is not hard to translate at all
what is hard is trying to count those letters and numbers
then do it again cause from black you got it wrong
i saw a kid set up the board wrong
because he was stuck on stupid with algebraic notation
apparently if you have a white square in the right corner these days that is not enough of a clue for the kiddies. they got to have the letters and numbers spelled out for them to even set up the board correctly.
i have had plenty of aborted games after i open p-k4
but in this case they hit resign not abort after b-n5
it was a casual game so they dont lose any points if they dont want to play against the ruy
you wait for a time control you like
then finally get a game
and the guy resigns cause its his right
it may be a 'right' to be a bleepHOLE
but at my age i dont have time to waste on immature kiddies
when they dont play you have to start over getting a game with all that previous time being wasted
@oldegeezer LP reads ya Pops! It's all good! Li'l Puppet is fluent in all notations. Das it!
glad you are fluent in all notations
64 mag was good for any language long before algebraic got big
because it used symbols for the pieces and their squares
now if you were only fluent in descriptive
then maybe you could improve your rating
