Why lift weights when you can just get a car lift, why run when you can drive, why paint or draw when you can take pictures that are instant and will always be more accurate? Why do anything at all? This sort of nihilistic approach will more or less deter you from doing anything as a hobby, and if you're really lucky, you might be one of the few that can make a living off it

The person who told you this is clearly dishonest and doesn't realize the value of hard work or getting better at something. They are not your friend, so just kick them to the curb and surround yourself with people who support you.
