What is the best opening for me to learn?

Return to the theme.
There is a group of chess openings. myself, I like Italian as white and Sicilian as black.
Both are very unsuccessful. As long having fun, playing chess... who cares?

It depends on what you like to play

I like atomic, but I would like to improve at standard chess too.
My favorites are classic (Turtle) and rapid (rabbit)

learn by reading your first Chess Book ... Capablanca's Best Chess Endings in 60 Complete Games by Irving Chernev . Also logical Chess Move by Move by Irving Chernev & Then Neil Mcdonnel The Art of Logical Thinking In Chess Should Take You a few minutes per game or about six weeks for this task as you should be going through the games with comments & absorbing the Information @a-pie , As far as openings are concerned You can watch you tube chess videos free on basic opening principles and ideas . If you just learn openings don't talk to me evea' hehe' as you need the three books mentioned in the next Six weeks (No more than that !) to get a FIRM beginning FOOTHOLD . Remember Study Play Play Study , It's a healthy ballance of the two that will get you There wherever there is as after your rating starts to rise you will be even more interested than you already are . I guess after checking your Profile are you Interested in Chess or only atomic be cause if it's Atomic you won't be getting any tips by me as I don't know the Rules . Read those three books quickly please thank you then ask me for more to read ok ? @a-pie

thank you.
I will definetly get those books and read them

also one question: i have seen many good people learn from lichess studies. is that a good resource too?

For many, a good starting point (for openings) would be:
"... For beginning players, [the book, Discovering Chess Openings by GM Emms,] will offer an opportunity to start out on the right foot and really get a feel for what is happening on the board. ..." - FM Carsten Hansen (2006)

Some of us think that it can be useful to use books like First Steps: 1 e4 e5, Logical Chess, and My First Chess Opening Repertoire for White as sources of games with explanations intended for those just starting to learn about an opening.
“... [First Steps: 1 e4 e5] is a fun and informative book. ...” (2018)

The most natural beginning is the Italian game. Try to watch the video - it's in Russian, but the automatic translation is almost always satisfactory.

Do you only pay here? If we trust your profile you only played 7 hours in total, that's really nothing!

Simple stuff: Scotch game and french defense.

I would recommend the Italian game for white and the caro-kann for black. Also, don't give up to early because at your rating, there is still lots of time for them to make a mistake.

I will make a study so you can see some openings.
