What is better in terms of an open position; d4, or e4???

Which opening has a better chance of you being able to attack quickly, e4 or d4

Normally e4 leads more to open positions and because of that the openings started with e4 are called open games or semi-closed

1.e4 (e5): the opening pawn-break d4 (d5) is easier to achieve than after 1.d4 (d5) the corresponding e4 (e5).

Remember though: the RL can get pretty clogged up, whereas the QGA is often wide open.
