I had a[nother] vulgar comment in a game's chat today. I finished the game (lost), reported the comment and blocked the user. What happens with the report?

Nothing, because Mods are all lazy and ignore reports.
Or it will get printed, framed and hung up on a wall with the rest of the reports. Perhaps it will be read to Queen Elizabeth ll and she will dispatch MI6 agents to decapitate the offender.

I was worried that I may have inadvertently "swatted" my opponent. His comment was written in Belarusian, making me fear an international incident could upset the 2020 US presidential election and/or the Candidates tournament in Russia in a few months.

I just got a thank-you note for a report I made yesterday... the person called me a "retard" and got banned for it right away. Just one word! Where I'm from, that word is considered profanity when pronounced with stress on the first syllable. Bravo, lichess!

@nayf That's the "conspiracy of silence", and in that's the reason in Italy exists mafia and there are unresolved crimes all over the world. On lichesspeople ban them just for ethics, not because they're kids an cry. Ah and don't be so stupid to answer me "do you think there exist mafia on lichess? hahaha" because if you've written that in a comment on lichess, you think in this way also in real life, and so if you see someone offending another person you'll ignore them, right?

@king04
If you think using a vulgar word is comparable to murder, racketeering and so forth, that says a lot about you. As for the rest of your comment, it's incoherent gibberish.

- i didn't spoke about rackeetering, mafia isn't made by narcos, mafia works a lot with murders when someone exit from his clan
- you didn't answer to my question, but evidently you're so embarassed that you don't want to answer me.
- didn't you realized that you're the only in this chat who thinks in this way?

#5 dealing with it yourself isn't really possible when you can't physically confront the other person. You can only get in a swearing match, which only makes everything more toxic. Those who go around calling others things like retard have no business on this site. They're creating a toxic atmosphere and try to take away the joy others might feel when they win. So reporting and banning them seems like the best way to go.
And with the way you're talking it sounds like you're still bitter other children called their parents when you were bullying them...

@king04 You didn't speak about racketeering? The level of your intelligence is remarkable. (Btw, that's almost calling you the word that #4 finds so offensive, but in this case you are calling yourself that). You spoke about the mafia, and implied that it's ethically wrong to be silent about the mafia's crimes. So I mention the common mafia crimes as examples, and then you whimper that you didn't speak about racketeering. Please... go waste someone else's time. As for your ridiculous "question", I didn't reply to it to do you a favour. But fine, I'll reply now because you "earned" it. I had asserted that utterance of an insult or vulgarity here is a very minor offense which people should handle themselves instead of running like crybabies to the authority. You continually reply with question begging, by using examples that are either not minor (mafia) or ambiguous ("someone offending another person") or irrelevant (the latter again). Obviously someone "offending" another could be either minor, such as insulting them, or major. If it's minor, I never said nor implied that it must always be ignored. I said people should handle it themselves. A third person may or may not get involved, depending on circumstances, but burdening authorities is inappropriate unless someone is offending in an official capacity and therefore abusing a position of responsibility, clearly irrelevant to our discussion here.
As for being the only person here taking my position, I'd rather be a man than a sheep, but since you obviously think like a sheep I agree that my preference would be difficult to explain to you.
@Stefanxd
There are various ways to deal with insults and vulgarity aside from replying in kind. One of them is using wit and charm, but I agree that if you are witless and charmless that may not be an option for you. Another alternative is to ignore the insult completely, but I agree that that is difficult for a crybaby with thin skin. As for your speculative ad hominem about my childhood, I'll follow my own advice just mentioned and ignore it rather than reply in kind (which would be too easy in your case). I do suggest to both of you an introductory course in logic, where you'll learn in the first lesson that ad hominem arguments are invalid.
Btw, here's an example of what I'm talking about. After I beat someone several consecutive times in blitz, he called me an idiot. I asked him, so if an idiot beats you four times in a row, what does that make you, a genius? He never replied. I find that more satisfactory than whimpering to an authority like a sissy crybaby.
