All Opening Moves have Ideas behind them including side pawn Openings or Flank Openings.
Creativity is important for developing Piece Combinations like a bishop and a rook working together.
A good example for this is: Bishop on b7, and a Rook on an open g file, after White has castled on the Kingside, the rook and bishop can be a superstrong Piece Combo, winning material with discovered checks , in some positions even clearing the 2nd Rank.

Literally any opening named after an animal is guaranteed to be weird:
https://lichess.org/study/INYT93x7
My favorites are the Double Duck Formation and the Fried Fox, which the study creator refers to as the the "bongcloud of the animal world" (although unfortunately they spelled "bongcloud" wrong, but who care's it's an awesome opening, can't wait to use it!).

@zzhangb4 Black lion and White lion are good! As well, Dragon as prehistoric animal is good. Modern Pterodactyl (1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. Nc3 c5) is playable, but complicated.
Yet it is true that some other animals are insane: for example, Réti Penguin 1. Nf3 d5 2. c4 d4 3. Rg1.

I'd avoid the Bowdler Attack. It appears to be unsound ...

First an historical perspective ... 1a3 was played by Adolf Andersen usually 1... e5 was played & he responded with 2 e4 . In many openings a3 comes in handy . Anthony Miles & Duncan Suttles played "offbeat" openings as well as many others . Miles beat Anatoly Karpov with 1... a6 2... b5 as Black even . 1c3 is also very playable . Benko & Larsen were also very original . Some chess books to consider at lower ratings to learn ideas would be ... Book One ... How to Open a Chess game by 7 GM's ... Book Two ... Ideas Behind The Chess Openings by Reuben Fine . You will need Complete Games however & a nice book of shorter games that is free as all these are now' is ... Book Three ... Plan Like a GM by Alexsi Suetin ... I will recommend ... Book Four ... Play Like a Grandmaster by Alexander Kotov that isn't part of the topic but is a great chess book to help form an acceptable style that conforms to the position at hand .
