I saw a lot of people are saying about most famous chess players in the world
But how about woman?

Judit Polgar was #8 back in those days.
Judit = Tal in a skirt
Optimistic answer: Judit Polgár. Pessimistic answer: Beth Harmon. :-)

Judith Polgars story is pretty amazing, she broke Fishers record for youngest Grandmaster and youngest ever to enter the FIDE top 100 chess players list, at 12!
The most amazing part is that her parents taught their daughters Chess from very early age to prove that genius is made not born and their daughters became Chess masters, one becoming the best woman player of all time reaching a peak world ranking of No. 8. (Overall not just among woman!)
I find that pretty amazing, and motivating.
Probably was Judit Polgar at the time but now is probably Pia Cramling.
Judit Polgar is the strongest female player of all time, no doubt about that!
Before Judit, the Georgian Nona Gaprindashvili was world champion and dominated female chess for a long time. More recently, she successfully sued Netflix about disparaging remarks made in 'The Queen's Gambit'
If you go further back, Vera Menchik was pretty strong before she died young during WW2. There was even an unofficial 'Vera Menchik club' of strong male players who'd lost to her.
Judit and Susan Polgar. Anna's mom, Pia. Muzychuk. Hou Yifan. Irina Krush. Maia
I was following Hou Yifan back when she was a cute teenager with hair clips. I was sorry to see her leave chess, but she's building a life for herself outside the game. In that respect, she's doing better than a lot of male GMs.
The Polgar sisters
Pia Cramling
then either the Chinese GM's, or the Indian GMs--- due to the massive populations of those countries.
