Yeah, come to think of it, it should be the same amongst all the time controls.
In my opinion, if my opponent (or myself for that matter , I will say "us") starts to think about the move, if we receive information from lichess advising us about what move to make, then we are receiving help from the server.
Part of the game, in bullet or even in Classical time controls, is knowing the rules. It's different than say, clicking on a square that a piece can't legally move to because that's more like negligence. When the server makes the noise, it is advising us that we only have one piece that either has to move or be defended. But, whenever any other piece is attacked that doesn't happen.
Like, if your knight is attacked, there isn't a horse neighing sound that comes on to advise you that your knight is being attacked. We have to be aware that our knight is being attacked and play accordingly, if we aren't, then we lose the knight. I don't see why it should be any different for the king.

@Catanese88 because you'll lose the game if you lose the king

@ruzgar9543
that's only a difference of degree, not one of principle
The principle is that the player shouldn't receive any advice.

@Catanese88 Then lets remove checks from all of chess

@ruzgar9543
what? remove checks? i'm talking about the notification of checks
i'm saying, if you're playing OTB, and somebody else, a third party, who is not playing the game, comes over to your opponent and says, "hey, look your King is in check" then that's a problem
That's what lichess is doing with the noise, it's a third party to our game (me and my opponent) and Lichess is telling my opponent about the check.
Why should my opponent be notified by someone else (someone not in the game) that they are in check?

@Catanese88 the sound functions as a way to say "Check" when you put the ooponent king in check. Nothing wrong with that.

@ruzgar9543
there is something wrong with it, I choose not to tell my opponent OTB, so I should also be allowed to choose not to tell my opponent online
but lichess does it for me (I would never allow a third party to announce check to my opponent over the board)
