"should i do openings or endgames or maybe even middlegames?"
'In order to improve your game, you must study the endgame before everything else. For whereas the endings can be studied and mastered by themselves, the middle game and opening must be studied in relation to the end game' - Capablanca

Neither. There are many free resources just as good if not better.
Nope, not in my book. You get what you pay for, most of the time. Can show us some of this free stuff that is so great?

Why do you limit yourself to chessable and chess.com? There is a lot of good instruction material on chessclub.com (Internet Chess Club), plus this site has a long history (the first of the Internet chess sites) and they have a strong partnership with the U.S.C.F

"some of this free stuff"
There are several great books with copyright expired, e.g. Chess Fundamentals by Capablanca, My System by Nimzovich, Common Sense in Chess by Lasker etc.
This site is free and has great stuff under learn, the analysis board etc,
Chessgames.com is free and has many great games, some with analysis.
Chessbase is free with recent games annotated.

Spit in one hand and then wish in the other hand!
And you'll see which one fills first.

Stockfish is more efficient than courses and subscriptions. Not only can it not become outdated, it also has no bias; it tells you the truth.

There is some really good free content on Chessable you might like. Just set your search to the free stuff.
