Much more often the internet connection is lost. These losses also affect game completion rate. Sorry for bad internet connection in my area. In Germany and France the internet should be much better.

You could try Linux. I use Debian. It's a much nicer system than windows. Also, if this thing happens again, if you have the lichess app on your phone, you can continue the game there.

Apart from switching to a decent OS, you can also simply change your update settings to "only manually install updates" or something like that.

(and obviously it's not lichess' fault that you use Windows)
