Dream start: he ́s the lowest rated in the tournament and is now in equal 1st place with 1.5 out of 2 points as Black in both games, against 2 GMs rated respectively 170 and 230 higher than himself. He really does seem to have used his tournament pause effectively; he seems very calm and concentrated, and in particular his endgame under huge time pressure in game 1 was (nearly) immaculate. 2 Classical OTB games a day will be a huge strain, but it ́s the same for everybody. I really hope he can keep it up! Next game in 4 hours:
lichess.org/broadcast/madrid-chess-festival--closed-a/round-1/r575eBSdLevy Rozman is pretty strong. He trains with top-class grandmasters everyday in
chess.com. He offers coaching to students and even plays practice games against them. So naturally, a man so devoted to chess would be extremely powerful. What did you expect lol
All that also applied before his last GM attempt a couple of years back; he trained with Nakamura and other GMs, his rating was higher then than it is now, and he certainly wasn ́t less devoted to chess. So something ́s changed.

Hello
washed up dull streamer has decent start in second rate chess tournament. Yippee.
UzChess is far more interesting and better quality of chess
HUH????
after seeing this thread i was just thinking i haven't seen an eric rosen video in ages. I checked him out and it looks like he's in the same tournament.
Is this a by invitation only tournament? is it sponsored by
chess.com/?
I wonder if they are getting support to help them earn a GM title. no hate either way. I think being GM strength doesn't guarantee a GM title. It also takes grinding, which is expensive and tiring, and luck.
I think Levy is much underrated. Looking at his rating of 2322, it makes sense since he is more of a social streamer. His last tournament was summer 2022 based on chessgames site. Second, his win in round 1 was against a guy 2535. They got their GM title in 2022. So, they have only gained 35 points? They also lost to a 2445 in 2023.
I have nothing against lowering the standards for a GM title, because then you should have to prove it and get to 2600. The other win Levy had was against a guy 2471. Titles count, but you got to get to 2600 to have some validity.
I suspect that any chess streamer will be washed up and dull by the time they are of a marriageable age. So yeah, a lot of fuss for us to make over a low rated IM playing in a small norm-opportunity tournament. Still, he has made a good start, and he won a nice game in round 3. Good for him. Do the net fanboys seem a little silly with the cheer leading? Yeah, but that's true of sports fans everywhere. Let them enjoy it. The man's videos are entertaining, and I don't see anything to get all grumpy about.
