I can assure you that you cannot earn a cm title on lichess.

Here are main methods :

2200+ FIDE RATING

Or,

Win, or come in the top 3 of big events.

These should be classical / standardplay, and are :

World / Europe Schools ( Juniors )
World Junior Champs
Europe Jnrs Champs + World
If these follow a strict thing of 9 countries, with each with at least 3 players, top 3 spots sometimes can grant a CM title.

The US Chess Champs for juniors award variety of titles as well for the winners.

There are events, but these are the main for Juniors.

In short, you need to win FIDE rated OTB tournaments.

@CHlivelylemon ahhh that explains why sometimes you'll see a CM with like 1700 Lichess rating.
So they win a Junior title and then just stop getting better.
