It was the famous American poet Charles Bukowski who once said "...see even doctors lie.". The beautiful thing about chess is that it never lies. The lessons are all there to be learn't. Forget about these robotic practical approaches to getting better and winning. People who offer this advice make a living from avoiding the bigger picture.
The reality is that once you fall in love with chess, nothing except maybe solitude or poverty could ever harm you. And to be honest, if you have the most basic of social skills they are easily avoided. The rewards are many. Imagine knowing yourself and being confident enough to say to the world whatever nonsense it delivers "I am capable of making good decisions." Trust me, when I speak from experience, there has never been a more important time then now to devote yourself to Caissa. And I don't say that lightly.
