I let it run to see a if I could get a correlation between nodes/depth and it seems to do slightly more than 3 times as many nodes for every 4 ply. So thats the baseline for the guestimate.
It took 1800s to reach 40.
Number of ply left 99-40 = 59
Relative amount of work left 3^(59/4)= 10902811

Rounding up, it would take me around 1000 years.

It depends entirely on the software used. A full-width alpha-beta searcher would take longer than the earth is expected to exist. Stockfish does heavy pruning, so BlackSalt has the right general idea for how to estimate it's time. Some programs do repeated playouts(playing semi-random games from after each move repeatedly to get a win/loss ratio for each move) and those can hit 100 ply deep in a fraction of a second. Of course the meaning of "100 ply deep" is different for each one, a 100 ply stockfish search can easily miss a mate in 50 if some of the moves are non-obvious.
