But now it's clear that a king was meant. Of course, a king has a big royal suite that throw him over the tower.

Was it not that the king's leap allowed a king, kind or grim, to jump anywhere within the coordinates c1-c3-g3-g1? So he could jump whatever. Today it is the king strolling and the rook somersaults.
