I dont care what any of you say.
I'm convinced now that if you piss off LiChess, they will put your on their bot list and say goodbye to your rating or even fair play. This has happened to me about 5 times now.
This is what happens, I know my legit rating range and the rate I'm improving at.
Lets say my current avg rating is about 1750.
I'm beating players between 1750-1850 on the regular.
I have rating increase streaks and rating decrease streaks that last for 1-2 days each.
Lets say I abort 1 too many games, or I let 1 too many games timeout without withdrawing. (I'm a father of 2, sometime Im just drop the phone and take off running because a baby is crying.)
What happens is from then on out I start getting paired with "players" who I have these extremely close games with and the entire time it feels like they are just playing for a draw.
Every move is perfectly neutralizing my attacks, but there are no spicy tactics either.
Many of these games comes down to a close drawing ending that I end up losing on time.
My rating will plummet to the 1500s and then i start getting paired with the question mark players.
My very first account, I just keep playing on it until I got the feeling that something was up.
I realized that my losing streak was lasting, but I could never get on a winning streak again.
I never got even close to my highest rating.
I went over to Chess.com and sure enough, i was improving over there.
Not only that, even if I manage to get an advantage, some games would randomly glitch and start "reconnecting" allowing my clock to tick down, and then I would just lose the game.
Even when I'm not playing a game, the account would always be blinking "reconnecting". On and off. On and off.
Eventually, I had the Idea to create a new account.
Sure enough, after playing a few games, my rating settled near my last rating high.
I was getting human like game play with spicy tactics. Checkmates on both sides.
I've done this about 5 times now.
I'm doing my best not to abort games, or let the clock tick down etc, but its just annoying how I'm beating 1850+ players and all of a sudden I'm having a hard time beating a 1500 player.
I know immediately that I'm on the $hit list and I just create a new account and all i restored.
There are certain openings that I haven't figured out how to refute yet.
So normally on my losing streaks, these are the openings that I face for a few days in a row.
Eventually, when all is well, the algorithm pairs me with people that my repertoire is strong against, and my rating goes back up.
If i go on that drastic losing streak for 4+ days, and all the games are coming down to a few secs and very draw like in nature, I know whats going on.
Keep you "conspiracy theory" comments to your self.
Its been empirically proven to me.
If you're having a similar experience, try a new account and do your best not to abort games or use bad language in the chat to other players. Someone's (LiChess') feelings my get hurt.
