Chess is not a nice hobby

@Druismat said in 3#
Chess is a nice hobby as long as you do not take it seriously. I play for more then 40 years and never felt pain in losing. It is just playing with pieces and mating the king. Life is serious enough why should you take a game serious. Play and have fun...
Well, some people take chess very seriously... for instanse, my chess teacher is just making is money with chess.

@SILVERKNIGHT101 I believe you. I dont even care that much about chess and yet, I spend so much time on it, watching videos(quite often) or just playing for 1-2 hours everyday..I dont want to know how much more time I would invest, if I were at your level.

> Who wants to DEGRADE Chess to A HOBBY Anyway ???????? It's more than a game ... It's Science Art & A Fight ! I LOVE CHESS & MY FAMILLY ... It's not a HOBBY at all so true
We understand you and other professional players that chess is life. We patzers take chess as a hobby. It's not for patzers who are bitter losers. Like becoming enraged.

> It isn't is it really?
> The endless conflict and mental aggression from opponents and indeed from you to your opponents...
> The pain when you lose after winning easily for 40 moves...
> The loneliness of playing over your own wins ,your own struggle only matters to you and nobody else...
> Unlike hobbies where you create something chess is a hobby where you destroy to create....
> "There is no room for kindness of heart in chess" is a famous quote...
> Its not nice is it....lets face it

It's really friendly. It is face to face, you shake hands, you play because you want to.. an exercise in struggle in a fair setting.. The conflict is not endless, you can play if you like to this game of conflicting pieces. Aggression ain't the word, call it alertness, willful to attack and defend. Losing needs to be taken with humour, we are not perfect, and we can win lost positions as often as lose won positions. Playing through your own games lonely, that sounds like the internet. Play, train and analyze from person to person as often as you can! What do you create in skiing or skating? Like in skiing and skating in chess you create skills and movements you can live through, they go into your whole life. "No room for kindness"- you must be joking. You must be joking, if you think it's true. (The Housemartins). Chess is a deeply friendly game and its players are pretty sociable and sharing, I believe. The main weakness of the internet is the lack of post-mortems with coffee and beer.
