cheaters can add time to their clock

@FryderykFranciszek said in #20:

No, they don't. We're seeing a cheat, not a player pre-moving with a crystal ball since move no 1. Why do you guys always try to be acquiescent with cheaters? Every single chess server is at war against cheaters. They're everywhere and they're thousands. They have to be deleted and erased.

no they don't what? and who's we?

not a player pre-moving with a crystal ball since move no 1.

OP mentioned it happens when time is getting low. that's when I start premoving, and that's when a lot of people start premoving. I haven't seen any of OPs games so I don't know what they are seeing, I simply explained what premoving is and that it could be what they are seeing.

I'll respect protocols of our forum and not mention specific users. Recent blitz games of mine, a few users have an extension or some other tech whereby they can add time to their clock, tends to be last 30" of the game. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you.
isn't this called lagging? just block and run.

I was writing other text on another site when I wrote "No, they don't". But that expression is just the tip of the iceberg. What matters is that you can't assume and state that switch lagging isn't a big deal. Until now, we had cheaters, scammers, laggers (by its poor Internet), sandbaggers, and so on so forth, and now, we've got intentional laggers, or switcher laggers, i.e., people who turn on - off a VPN to gain some advantage due the infamous lag compensation, a very poorly developed and worst implanted algorithm to allow players with poor Internet to play fast time controls. The fact is that cheating (and cheaters) are a plague, and it must be banned for good. It's a kind of war, let's say that.

And believe me, you're not watching someone making pre-moves. You are watching someone cheating. The pre-move behavior doesn't have anything in common with lag switching. Humans can't move that fast, even with pre-moves (not to mention the accuracy issue). You just can't make six seconds last for good.

And last but not least, you have not played even one single bullet game. You don't know what it is all about, at least, you have not experienced it.

you could be seeing premoving. that's not cheating. it's a feature.

when it's your move and your clock is ticking, your opponent can make a move that will execute as soon as you move. that's called a premove.

you're opponent doesn't know yet what your move will be, but they can commit a move in the blind. regardless of what your move is, their premove will execute (if it's a legal move) as soon as you move and not subtract any time from their clock.

if time is getting low and you notice everytime you move, your opponent moves instantly, they are probably premoving and either guessing or not even caring what your next move will be. so you can use that to your advantage.

one way is to put them in check. if their premove doesn't get them out of check, it will be cancelled and start their clock. If they have 2 seconds and you have, say, 30 and have a piece or too to spare, sac a piece to put them in check.

if they're premoving, they're probably move the same piece every time. so try to guess where they might premove it to next, and put a piece near by so you can take it, even if that means putting your piece on a square they are defending.

I mainly try to put them in check.
I don't think he was talking bout premoving, since the opponent was adding time. Like having 30sec and suddenly havin 45

which happens if you are offline so that local estimate of clock is badly off.
Lichess mostly warns about lost connectionso it should be visible

not only did I never state that, I didn't even imply it. I guess thanks for wasting my time. My fault, not your fault.

It's up to u. And be polite, it's just good advice.

Chatting with others never is a "wasting of time". You can agree or not, but it's just a conversation. Don't be so arrogant. Regards.
