Hey all, i have a question about different types of cheating. I played a game earlier today where I won all of a sudden and the screen showed "cheat detected". However, my opponent is not flagged for computer assistance. Is this because maybe they had an analysis board open but not confirmed cheating? Should i report this or is this considered some sort of lesser offense? thanks.

I personally think that you should report him because he had the analysis board open, and I’m pretty sure that it uses the stockfish engine, though, I think it’s totally up to you if you want to report him or not

I played correspondence against someone who got this "cheat detected" message and he said he had analysis board open by accident. I don't know if it just auto triggers if you have the analysis board open or you actually need to be analyzing the current game.

@asdf5656 By accident, people open up the analysis board before the game started in a separate tab. If the analysis board is still open for a number of moves no matter what is being analyzed, it will say cheat detected.

This is not how it works. If it did work that way, it would be changed quickly, because that would be awful.

I just found the game and actually he said that he was trying to learn how to use the analysis board for the first time. Anyway it was just once in 984 correspondence games I've seen someone have that "cheat detected" message so it seems pretty rare.

Cheat detected = Suspicious of live cheating when the position on analysis with Stockfish on another tab/browser is exactly identical to his/ her live game position. ( opening analysis tab for self analysis in correspondence chess is allowed).Mostly happen when people open the opening explorer with analysis tab on.

Banned as cheater= Suspicious history of cheating after analysing a series of finished games. ( Post game analysis)

I have a bad experience about this topic, never accuse someone of cheating without any reasons, that's a lesson for me ( I know my comment is irrelevant)
