Can solving a dozen of puzzles every day improve my skills drastically?

Hi there, I am trying to find ways to improve my game quickly. How effective is it to solve chess puzzles every day? Do you guys also solve puzzles and have you seen any improvement in your game? Please share your views.

@absk-kr-singh yes puzzles are the most time consuming, but also best way to improve my chess play. I find myself finding more and more astonishing tactics in my own games. What is also good to improve is to analyse master games or your mistakes in your own games. More than that I don't know right now as I try to improve myself... It gets really hard on the way to the top...

Solve as much puzzle as possible and al kind of puzzle too. Afaik the Idea behind solving puzzle is to train our brain to calculate as far as possible. If you have superior tactical skill it will help you in the middle game to endgame.but don't try to solve puzzle by guessing the moves or something like that. take your time .You have to calculate as far as possible and decide the best move.Solving puzzle by guessing won't help you that much....

Make it 50 a day at least. If you only solve a dozen though, make sure you get the 12 correctly. My general plan used to be 1h of puzzles a day at least. You'll see, after a while they are actually quite enjoyable, it just takes some time to get used to the process, but they are actually really fun and gratifying when you solve one having considered every possibility. I got to 1650 to 2050 in biltz in about 3 months doing mostly tactics basically (granted it was between 100 and 250 a day tho), so its definitely the way to go in my humble opinion. A coach can be very useful too, dm if you want the details of mine! :)

@MaXENce007 I slightly disagree. I don't think he needs to solve more than ten a day to improve. It's far more opponent to solve them correctly in my opinion.

@SucheSchachfreund Im not saying he NEEDS to solve more than 10 to get better. Im saying solving 10 a day is a level of investment that doesnt reflect a real will to get better. It will of course improve his chess, but if he took the time to post in a forum about it, im sure he doesnt want to get "slightly better". Just my opinion, I do agree however than quality wins over quantity when it comes to tactics, but both is even better :)

@MaXENce007 "Im saying solving 10 a day is a level of investment that doesnt reflect a real will to get better."

That is the part I disagree with. One time I needed 40 minutes to solve a puzzle. I don't regret it. This one puzzle made me stronger. 40min x 10 puzzles = 6 hours, which is a huge time investment and therefore a "real will to get better". It depends on what you want to achieve. You need a lot of tactics for blitz and a lot of patience for chess.

idk solving 200 puzzles a day, even 500 one day, sounds like quite some will to get better. Im sorry, if it takes you 6h to solve 10 puzzles, you are doing something terribly wrong and you are definitely not getting better if you dont progressively reduce the time you need to recognize patterns. There is a difference between spending a lot of time on something and actually doing it well. It's great that you fashion quality over quantity, but what you are advancing is straight up useless. How much did you improve say in 2-3 months solving 10 puzzles a day for 6h?
