Sad to see Frederic Friedel being exploited like this. He built a wonderful brand(ChessBase) that produced some wonderful software over the years and had huge influence on the development of chess computers and chess in general. Now he seems to have fallen victim to a scam by Albert Silver who has convinced him that he has built this innovative chess engine. Poor Frederick has fallen for this, happy to once again be in a forefront of revolutionary changes in chess computing. All this talk about having a supercomputer (claiming to have the fastest computer in the world under Frederics desk for the development of Fat Fritz NN), introducing this novel NNUE approach and other such nonsense makes this sound pathetic. Sad to see how the reputation of once great brand gets tarnished.

That's terribly sad to hear. I try to inform people as much as possible about open source software and try to spread awareness of this kind of movements. However, its private companies like these who ruin it by monetising stuff which leads to the common psychological error of thinking paid products are better than open source ones. Thanks for this information Lichess and my gratitude to Leela and Stockfish teams for all that they do for us. More power to you all.

Of course CB is responsible for their products but it might be the case that they have been betrayed by Silver (freelancer?) in a certain way. At least they have to deal with this issue now.

Maybe they should refrain from engine business, the database functions, videos and stuff are ok though.
