I like how much people want to INSIST that it's someone's fault that not more women wanna play chess. Like we MUST self-flagellate.

We have this duty, this guilt, women are so OBVIOUSLY oppressed. And what horrible people those are who don't think that way! How ignorant they are! Did they not read the Huffington Post article about how men are keeping women out of the basket weaving economy in Southwestern Indochina's peninsula chain?

No! How dare these A**holes make FUN of women's OPPRESSION! Sad, truly. Do they not know that we are literally stoning women in 2020 when they ask if they may read a book? And quickly point to the kitchen. Ah, the times we are living in. Truly.

Stop reading so much fiction. Women and men have a fair playing field in 2020. Please, stop dragging us all into this pit where the only winner is he who self-flagellates and grandstands in the most performative fashion. We get it. You're such a great empath, such an ally. The rest of us are plebs who have so much to learn from your compassionate ways.

Oh great, this crap is seeping now into the chess community. Ffs, nobody is keeping women from pursuing chess, in western societies women are encouraged no matter what. They choose not to because they're not interested in obsessing over a board game. Also, men don't have it easier, being in a chess club as a kid is definitely not encouraged and cheered, especially not by other kids.

I would encourage them to get really really mad, just get furious. Seriously, let this article ruin your whole day. Get so mad that you find a new board game to play. There must be some community that still welcomes sexist idiots, go find it! You deserve to be around people who will love and value you just the way you are.
