I'm playing chess online for more then 20 years now. I'm not good at all, but smart enough to see if a player cheats or not.
The number of people that are cheating has increased very much, since corona has hit the world. Don't know what is people driving to do so!
Simple question: Why is lichess not doing more against it? It's really no fun anymore

Try unrated games. Casual 10 min. You will be kicked all over the place by some 1500s.

Cheating is a bannable offense. However if a player declares right away that he/she is using a computer in a casual game that is not cheating but rather a wierd form of an exhibition match.i dont face lots of "cheaters" in casual games either

How many of them you have reported so far?

You've played only a few casual 10 minute games with below 1600 rated opponents. You have no experience with them at all. Play a few hundred of such games, just like me. Then we can talk.

It takes an idiot and a cheater to know one.

Its easy to get paranoid esp. if you encounter a run of losses. Try to recall that Chess also teaches humility. You need to own up to your own mistakes and understand that some days you will encounter more people who will punish them. When i first started online chess i'd catch myself accusing (internallly) anyone of cheating who played well esp. in shorter time controls. I think a lot of it was my imagination and my anger over this perceived injustice causing 'tilt', so i played with emotion instead of remaining calm.
I did report one or two persons whose accounts got banned that were playing some ridiculous error-free chess with brand new accounts in tournaments, and i've got a handful of messages in the last 2 years that I got refunded or someone i reported was banned, but I've played 11000 games in that time. So i'd say, just keep calm and try to learn from every game. Cheaters cheat themselves of the feeling they have improved by their own effort. Their loss. And its not as pervasive as you think.

Well yeah, it's simple math. If the players online in a day all of a sudden double, the amount of cheaters playing will also increase.

Why are you not reporting anyone for cheating? Please use lichess.org/report.
