"short for King and Queen versus King and Rook, in which the longest solution to mate can take over moves"
out of all the things to leave out in a sentence, this was probably the worst.
Also, the 600 move checkmates seem to ingnore the 50 move rule?

When using DTC, any record over 50 moves is going to be ignoring the 50 move rule. So these aren't mates according to FIDE rules. They are still fun to look at though.
And I found this article annoying, they left out the interesting part which is what hardware and software he was using that could handle 8 pieces with no duplicate pieces. It's mostly fluff.
