Regarding the famous Marshall game, and the gold coins story there's Edward Winter on that :

In my humble opinion, this is typically a basic tactic at higher levels, but aesthically and for some 2000s online, this will be their dream move. Anyways, I don't want to take your happiness away either. But gold coins are deserved for games like Kasparov's Immortal or Game of the Century type game.
P.S. Thanks in advance if anyone dislikes my comment, but if you ask any 2000+ FIDE player, they will say the same only.

Marshall's move is the most overrated BS in history. It doesn't win him the game (as he was already winning), the whole thing is neither deep nor forced, it's not even original. There are hundreds of incredible moves in chess history and this is absolutely NOT one of them.

I do admit that 16 Re3 is a bit more logical (or easy to find) that Re1 which is an absolute crazy move!
Re1 is really nice but for the other moves there are way to much exclamation marks for quite obvious things
