Yes, I'll probably send out a link to this post via my newsletter. The full text didn't render so well on mobile, so I figured I'd post it here first. Also, Lichess just rules :)

This whole series was fantastic content. Thanks for the write-up too. I look forward to this series continuing!

This was such an engrossing read. Thanks, as always, for your insight, John! You're a huge positive influence and inspiration in the community.

John, I am so grateful to you for doing this! I watched every game and listening to your thought process is incredibly illuminating for us weak players. I look forward to your next season!

"Tough to reply to everything you wrote." * You have no obligation to reply to feedback.

"to other strong players second - 1800+ OTB" * That includes me: used to be FIDE 2200+, still 2000+.

"how I see the modern, extremely competitive chess landscape." * I try to learn from it, but I fail to understand several of your conclusions. For example the only game you lost was from an incorrect rook sacrifice in a winning position. That seems to me like a case of "I need to pick a line and get rolling".

Thanks very much for participating, creating all the video content, and these post-tournament reflections John. For any lower rated players, I would just like to add that LoneWolf comprises two categories - the Open section and the under 1800 section. To participate in the latter, your rating must have been below 1800 for the last 3 months and it must be an established rating (ie not provisional, marked with a ?). So if you need to establish your rating, get playing Classical and sign up!

PS - by the way John, think you were +8, -1, =2

That was a great read, John! Do you have plans for future blog posts here on Lichess! Cheers!

Great league, I played a season or two, but just can't take it seriously anymore after I've started actively playing otb. It can be a great tool for players that can't for whatever reason play otb.

I'm only on game 3, but I'm enjoying it. I also joined the Lonewolf league U1800 because of your video! It was on my radar for a few months, because sometimes it pops up on the Lichess homepage, but your video's pulled me over the line.
Let's see what happens!
