What is zen mode? What can it do?

Zen mode hides your opponent's name and rating in order to not hinder your performance in a game. For instance, in a bullet game, if you're playing vs a very high-rated and formidable opponent, you might get get into a winning position, but get too excited and mess up, whereas you would convert vs a normal player. (Edit: According to the link sean gave, it serves some extra purposes too.)
