The new RKWC

I'll send some invites this evening, especially to those who played in the previous RKWC as well. Which two friends do you mean @Moscowneversleep?

I'm in, I have a suggestion, it might seem odd but it's just a suggestion.
I suggest we do this as a league OR maybe a cup starting from group stages.
This gives players more games to play and not to lose interest quickly.

It's only a suggestion and open to criticism.

Good day! Today is June 23rd. I demand to give me a rival in order to start preparing for the destruction of an opponent! =)

Let me give an update. Because we are currently at 26-30 players (depending on how many of the "interested" players will actually sign up) I decided to modify the tournament format somewhat. The playoffs, that were planned to start on June 24, will be cancelled. Instead, I aim to wait for exactly 32 players and will start the main tournament bracket as soon as that has happened. I'm more than confident we can reach this number of participants before July 1, so we don't get behind on scheme with the actual tournament.
Had we started the playoffs on June 24 as planned, the 7th to 26th seeds would have had to take part in the playoff round and 10 interested players would never have seen the light of the double elimination bracket. Starting a 16 player RKWC would be a shame if we were so close to getting to 32 in the end.
Just to clarify: this does NOT cause a shift in the timing of rounds. The double elimination tournament was and still is planned as follows:

Week 1 (July 1-7): round of 32 players, 16 matches in the winners bracket
Week 2 (July 8-14): 16 players, 8 matches in both the winners and losers bracket (first 8 players eliminated)
Week 3 (July 15-21): Quarterfinals (8 players, 4 matches) in the winners bracket, 16 players and 8 matches in the losers bracket
Week 4 (July 22-28): Semi-finals (4 players, 2 matches) in the winners bracket, 8 players and 4 matches in the losers bracket
Week 5 (July 29 - August 4): Final in the winners bracket, 8 players and 4 matches in the losers bracket
Week 6: (August 5-11): 4 players and 2 matches in the losers bracket
Week 7: (August 12-18): 4 players and 2 matches in the losers bracket
Week 8: (August 19-25): One match in the losers bracket
Week 9: (August 26 - September 1): Final in the losers bracket
Week 10: (September 2-8) Time for the Grand Final (including a possible repeated final)!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've just sitting for a full hour trying to figure this exact scheme out. It could well be that there's something wrong in my thinking but if there is not then this is how we're supposed to play with 32 players. If players complete their matches ahead of the scheme I won't hesitate to call out the next pairing of course but theoretically speaking it could take this long.

@BayorMiller I like the suggestion, but the 8- player round robin Candidates round was exactly the part that failed to get started during the December RKWC. Besides, a complete league would take a lot more time (like, several months) and effort to complete and would suffer more from people abandoning the tournament than an elimination bracket. As for the group stages, that's an interesting idea which I'll think about a little longer before going into details. Since all AWC, CWC and ACWC tournaments missed this feature though, I won't implement it this year. We as a community first need to prove that we can properly organise, advertise, document and play out a huge event like this before we should be thinking about introducing new things. A separate RK Bullet League (1+0) is an idea I'm also thinking about but one that will have to wait until after the RKWC.
And @Moscowneversleep, sorry for disappointing you but you'll have to wait one more week. With your ratings however I don't know if you'd have had to take part in the playoffs at all even if they would have started this week.
