Unwanted Mobile version changes since last month update

Hi, I have trouble adapting to 2 changesthat appeared in the last month or so on the mobile version in Study Mode , could you help me identify if it comes from LichessTools or more generally from Lichess ?

1/ the arrows to go forward/backward though the moves list now go all the way to the first / last move but that's not the expected behavior, I'd like it to revert to the normal One move forward/ one move backwards behavior

2/ the computer numeric evaluation (+0.8 , -2.4 for example) isn't displayed anymore

Thank you for your precious help as always!

David

Hi, @DFreidenberg !

Sorry for the late reply.

I understand there are two problems:

  1. buttons for prev/next move in study go to the beginning or end of the move list, not just one move. I can't replicate that.
Lichess added a new system where you slide your finger over the controls, to the left or right, to go to beginning or end of the list. You can even be more gentle with it and get in between. I find it's an interesting interface that molds well to the mobile screen, but if you are not aware or if you move your finger while you try to tap, you might get an unexpected behavior.

  2. The eval for the current position is no longer shown
That is correct, but I believe it to be a Lichess bug introduced in the latest changes to the computer engine toggle. You see, there are two sets of changes. The first one hid the computer engine header/toolbar on mobile unless the engine is on. This led to not showing the eval of the current position when the engine was off. Then they updated the button so that it shows the evaluation if one is available and, if not, show the "fish" icon. The second set of changes updated the icon from a fish to a computer chip (that looks more like a cog for my old eyes) and seems to have eliminated the functionality for the evaluation display.

If you are sure about point 1, help me replicate it. As for point 2 I will create a Lichess GitHub issue, so the developers are aware of it.

@DFreidenberg point 2 seems to have been resolved.

Also, my recommendation is to enable the "mobile theme" if you are using LiChess Tools on your mobile. It makes the experience better. Filter the Preferences by "mobile" and you should see a bunch of possible improvements.
