ACWC starting soon?

I have an idea. Matches with 10 games are too long, and it's easy to get bored when you play too much vs the same player in a row especially when they use their favourite 1. e3 or 1. Nh3 all the time. So openings in the games must be different: for example, everyone has to use 1. e3, 1. nh3, 1. g3 and 2 openings (not e3, nh3 or g3 but they can be the same) at their discretion. A real word champion should be a master of all openings like Dragon-Lord.

this is an interesting suggestion but it's hard to force people to play different openings... if someone wants to play e3 I can't blame him.

If you have to play different openings, I'm out. I think no break or analysis during the match would be a good idea. If you want to have a break, I suggest having it after game 6 or have two breaks after game 4 and game 8 so that we have even number of whites before the break. Also remember that if new games are started without using the rematch button, the same player may get more whites.

@finlip Do you mean now or if it happens? It hasn't become an actual thing yet.

Hmm, maybe Programfox or someone else can write a script (I don't know how to call this, I don't know anything about programming at all) for this, it will be nice.
Analysis during the match is dishonest.

I dont think Analysis or a break during a match is right, I have to agree with TheBigAlt, also I rlly want this idea to be reality. I dont want a good player who is only good at the only opening they play to be champion. I want a player who is a god at all opening like townes, or fins.

I'll take black in any game that white isn't allowed to play 1. e3. Even if it means I have to play 9 games with black.

If I'm paired against another e3 player, we can agree to play openings like

  1. b3 e6 2. b4
  2. b3 e6 2. Nc3 Be7 3. Bb2 Bf8 4. Rb1 Be7
  3. Ba1 Bf8 6. Rc1 Ba3 7. Rb1 Be7 8. Bb2 Bf8
  4. Ra1 Be7 10. Bc1 Bf8 11. Nb1
  5. Nc3 e6 2. Ne4 Be7 3. e3 Bf8 4. Bd3 Be7
  6. Be2 Bf8 6. Bf1 Be7 7. Nc3 Bf8 8. Nb1

@TheBigAlt

If you mean writing a script to check if someone is analysing previous games during their match, that won't ever do a good job. Here's why:

  1. It won't work. Let's face it -- people will just analyse as Anonymous then.
  2. The only thing you can detect, is whether someone visits the analysis board of their game. And you cannot prove any intentions with that; for example, let's say someone is playing and their friend messages them "haha look at what programfox said in the spectators chat of that game" and he goes to look. It's easy to forget about the script in such a situation, but the script would catch it. And then what? You cannot (dis)prove any of his intentions.
  3. If you create a hard rule of "don't visit the analysis board" with disqualification as punishment (which would be one solution to point 2), then the ACWC will just turn into a meta-game of people trying to trick others into visiting an analysis board.
  4. You have to prove that the script is bug-free. That's hard, if even possible. If the script catches someone who claims not having visited the analysis board at all, then how can you be sure?
