Why did white win this game? Black went out of time and white has no mating material.

That usually leats automatically to a draw.

Because white still has material, idk man but somehow its only a draw if its only the white king with no pieces left

There still exists a legal mating sequence where white can checkmate black(smothered mate in this case)

No matter how silly the moves white can still mate :-
