Comments on Lichess Statement on the War in Ukraine

The western Strategy is to call for peace, because in 2019 Ukraine added to its constitution that it intends to become member of NATO and EU. Believe me, would they have added to its constitution to become member of CSTO and Russia, then NATO would now <strike>attack</strike> <insert>support the democratic rebels of<insert> Ukraine.

P.S. Democracy is better than communism.
What Russia wants is to take over Russia because Putin believes it is his Right. Putin thinks that Ukraine is owned by Russia and reuniting it is what he wanted to be his legacy. He is mad. The world is apalled at another country invading unprovoked with the purpose of ripping their freedom from them.
There's a very big difference between Ukraine and Syria.

Yes, it is true that Russians have killed 7000+ Syrians and a million people were killed in Iraq.

But considering the direction that this war is heading to, if this war does not stop death toll will reach that of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

The other thing people are forgetting is that in the case of Russia, Putin is threatening the world with nuclear weapons!!!

There has never been a president in history of any nation that has threatened to use nuclear weapons. Second, Russia (Putin) wants to occupy Ukraine as he feels bitter about the collapse of the Soviet Union and angry that Ukraine wants to join Nato. He thought he will occupy Kyiv in 2 days, that's how out of touch he is.

Putin is using scare tactics and psychological blackmailing to control all of us. He thinks that he can frighten Europe by not supplying oil and gas. Yesterday, Putin also threatened that he want to destroy all Airports in European countries that supply weapons to Ukraine.

Prior to that the largest nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia was in danger of exploding and leaking radiation. This will have destroyed Europe and rendered it impossible for human habitat.

This is not an ordinary political issue that can be ignored, it is something that will affect all of us!

Yes, ofcourse!

There hasn't been another President or Prime Minister that has threatened the use of nuclear weapons on the entire world! Period!

Imagine if Biden, Johnson, etc said such a thing? Not only they will immediately be expelled from power, they will straight away go to prison!

But in the case of Putin, he is a dictator, you can't arrest him never mind kick him from power. Sure there are other dictators like Kim Jong Un who also develop nuclear weapons. But he hasn't threatened anyone with the use of it yet.

Look, Boris Johnson was under so much scrutiny recently just for organising a party in downing street during the Covid lock down that even the Conservative party wanted to remove him as Prime Minister.

Fast forward few weeks later, we have a president of Russia who last 20 years has been in power and nearly every 2 years under Putin there has been a war! He hasn't just attacked Ukraine, he attacked Georgia, Chechnya, Syria, etc.

That's the difference between US, UK democracy vs that of Russia! The Russian government is corrupt, they even arrested children as young as 7 just for laying flowers to the victims of Ukraine!
@nhl_1 that video is pretty awesome, thanks for posting! not sure what the BB code part is about, if it means that NATO would intervene in a non-NATO state i heavily disagree, coz i dont think America is interested in an escalation in Europe at all for one plus i have the - potentially naive - belief theres gotta be some veto-rights or some legitimation required.

@GoLdEnFLAME most military experts and analysts thought he could take Kyiv in a short amount of time, but the ukrainian resistance completely outsmarted the russian forces. check this video (its what YT autoplay showed me after watching nhl's video) to see how they did it:

Oh sorry, I misunderstood you. You mean threatening the use of nuclear weapons on the entire world. I thought you meant the use of nuclear weapons.
