Do cheaters not know that they're flagged?

I came across a game now with two cheaters with the "This account violated the Lichess Terms of Service" on their profile playing each other and it made me wonder; do cheaters know that they're flagged as cheaters?

And if so, why would they keep playing and even keep cheating, against other cheaters? Seems like such a waste of time. If you want to play a computer, there is a "Play the computer"-button on lichess...? ^^

They don't seem to care one way or the other. Think about the mentality of a person who cheats in unrated online chess. Right there, you know you're dealing with one of the dumbest, most infantile human beings on the planet. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to anything that person does off the chessboard, either.

My account was found to have violated the Lichess terms of service today. I wasn’t told. I have not the slightest idea, what I’ve done wrong or what happened. First I noticed that all my opponents had this violation notice also. Seven games in I noticed that my rating was unchanged. Then I tried to find out about the violation notice. Very sparse, all about cheating. I am very irritated about this. It is like an allegation of... nothing explicit. As if I have to know myself and I don’t. I am new to this platform and I’ve played 85 games of blitz. Yesterday I was invited to play an arena match and won really unexpectedly three out of 16 matches against much higher rated opponents. Yesterday my rating went up and down and everything seemed fine. What happened?

So, no, players with this notice do not know, are not told what went wrong, are not heard before being handed down the note, are not given the benefit of the doubt. There seems to be an appeal process in place, which I started.

And players with this violation notice seem to be ridiculed and prejudged in this forum, which is very unfortunate.

Use the appeal process and ask what happened.

One more thing: I can see my violation note in my iOS app. However it will not be shown, when I switch to the web site and play a game there. I just did, lost and my rating was not adjusted. The opponent did not have the violation notice. No idea if his or her rating was adjusted. How is this possible?

What do the innocent do?
What would you think and do if you found that note on your account tomorrow?

Still not at all understanding why someone would cheat in a board game with absolutely nothing riding on the outcome.

as #1 said, it really is fun to watch two players with stable move times and low acpl play against each other!

If your claim were true, it could have happened to me since 9 years ago.

And also my other 14 years old account in another site.
