On a slightly different angle, I would say that "My System" by Nimzowitch is by far the most over rated book on chess! .....just saying
Agreed. +There are notoriously bad writers like H.C. Opfermann. Zurich 1953 is also overrated.

Schach für Fortgeschrittene. Erfolge der Schachgestalten-Strategie by H.C. Opfermann
To this day I don't even know what a chess shape strategy is.
Is chess shape strategy even the correct translation for Schachgestalten-Strategie? I don't know.
H.C. Opfermann can't explain at all. He is one of the worst chess writers. At least in my opinion.

I know from a German friend that there is a warning about H.C. Opfermann books. His "teaching" is misleading.
Please get other literature to develop yourself.

The good old days of reading H.C. Opfermann!
In our time, he has been finally vindicated as being the only chess author of value in the world. Just read the pdf entitled "Plättchen zählen", by Chrilly Donninger.

I hear that for the first time!
Which edition do you mean: Bronstein or Euwe?
Both are great I think.

Never read "My System" but I think it has been so well regarded for a long time, because of a general lack of books on positional chess. Now there are a lot of books available on the topic.

1 Sc3 2 Tb1 is the only pamphlet/book I can say isn't for consumption' but i will also say it brings to light the reaches of "playable alternatives" in positions but is basically hogwash' . Again I was going to mention a couple of authors as the First to write anythong in response to this Forum Post like Richard Reti mentioned one Franz' Gutameyer' who apparently did a bad job trying to write a chess Book a very very long time ago ... i have learned from lichess to Not Disparage others' work if I can see they tried to make a contribution to Chess by their public shaming policies they have taught me (Despite my age I'm still Learning) to be a little bit less will you say harshly critical for rxample even How NOT To Play Chess by znosko -B had some points hehe' by trying to see COMMON ERRORS
