longer time control tournaments take lots of time 15/10 can take up to one hours. 5 rounds of that means 5 hours. Power of internet chess is that you go play a game you have time for. Hence long time control games are not popular and tournaments even less so. And whats wrong playing single games anyway

A related question is why are there so few tournaments with increment?

I can understand why there are not that many 15+10 tournaments, simply because they take a lot of time. What I do not understand is why there are so little 3+2, 5+3 or even 10+5 tournaments (or similar).

The focus would be more on the chess than the flagging which I think many would appreciate, not just beginners. Why not provide alternatives to the players and not force the X+0 time controls on everyone who wants to play in tournaments?

Currently close to 99% of the Lichess arena tournaments are without increment. Does that properly represent what kind of tournaments the Lichess users actually want to participate in? I would say no, but I cannot know for sure.

This is an interesting thing to know and adds on to lichess does not want people to cheat but instead play fair chess which is just ability on what happens in games.
