1800 fide with 14y cannot be considered a prodigy. everyone can get , just have IQ100 (average is 90-95)
probability to turn GM will be less than 0.01% (Own estimate)
Guys, I see so many comments and your progress, love it! Text me in DM if you'd like to have group lessons and comprehensive material guidance!

Not enough info to determine if he's gifted or not. If he's been actively studying for 8+ years, sure. If he only picked it up a year ago and is already 2300 online - that shows a lot of potential.
If you get good enough, other people will pay you to teach them- so that can be an income stream.
also you may be able to start a youtube/twitch/whatever is the big thing, page to show your progress/training. some money can be made from the advertising revenue.
Have you checked to see how many GM's there are in the world?
Some Gm's make money, just for showing up at tourneys- whether they win or lose--this is so non GMs can play against a GM to get a 'norm'.
Maybe it isn't a lot of money, just to appear and play, but free hotel and flights is a nice way to travel.
If you are a lady, and only play in the women's section- the competition is a little bit less, but also less money in the 'winner's pot'

As others have said- get a FIDE rating, play a few tourneys, and then do some more thinking.
GM Finegold was the oldest guy to ever get the GM title at 40.
At the end of the day, just take it one step at a time. Your goal isn't GM, it's 2000 FIDE. Then 2200, 2300, etc. If you do it like that, you'll have a much more realistic assessment of what you truly want, and what is truly possible for you.
