There are players who cheat on all online chess sites. This site marks them so they end up in a pool who play against each other. There are plenty of cheats on chess.com too - that site closes their account marking them with the "closed - fair play" icon, although if they are titled players they are often quietly banned, i.e. it doesn't show on their account (which is what they did with Hans Niemann)

I'm not sure on the full detail but Hans Niemann had had an account closed before in 2017, but he was only 14 at the time. He may also have had a second chance account closed in 2020, when he was 17.

He then had an active 3rd account and did not cheat with it, and was clean for 2 years during which time he played a lot of over-the-board chess and became a top 100 player, but they closed it after the scandal.

The refusal to adjust scores for lag is just as bad if not worse than the cheating. Some days I'm beating 10+ players in a row because the lag works in my favor, other days I can't win. Has nothing to do with chess skill. I play on many different computers, all of which have high ookla speed test results. Lichess and chess.com try to compensate for lag but just make the problem worse.
