can we ever loose title?
can we ever loose title?
can we ever loose title?
Yes , if the player starts playing very bad .
Edit: Oh! You said we! We don't have any title!
When a titled player is proven cheater, like Igor Rausis
You can lose your current title if you earn a better one
e.g: You will lose your IM title once you become a GM
Else you don't lose titles unless you cheat
If you pay for it, why not?
If the titled guy cheats
Admittedly it does get a little loose at times.
If you gimme 5 dollars i can make you lose your title
You cheat , you lose. But then there's the sad, unjust story of Mark Taimanov.
After his 6–0 loss to Fischer in the 1971 Candidates Quarterfinal, the Soviets stripped Taimanaov of his titles and took away his salary. In addition, they forbade him to travel outside the country and basically took away his ability to make a living. Taimanov was a concert pianist who COULD have made a living as such, but this was also prevented by his inability to travel internationally and being banned from all “social” events.
The pretext the authorities used for this cruelty was him carrying a book by Solzhenitsyn, but suspected Taimanov’s lopsided loss must have been done purposely as an act of political sabotage. The authorities would realize after Fischer 6–0 dominance of Larsen that Fischer has simply become the human buzz-saw, but could not admit such a mistake without further embarrassment, leaving Taimanov in the lurch until 1973. In spite of other chess accomplishments, his loss to Fischer and the horrible abuse of his civil rights afterwards would become the defining moment of his life.
