People say pair of a bishop is better than a pair of Knight.. Is it true!?

The value of a piece is dependent on the position. Sometimes, a knight could be a better piece than a rook in a position. The answer to this question is subjective and everyone has their own opinion.

it is depend on position. In chess was events when 2 bishops resisted in their pawns and knights was like a fish in water. Bishops better when they have diagonales, knights better when they have team sites

Depends on the position but in most cases, it is true. Bobby Fischer once said that a bishop is worth 3.25 points.

In closed positions, knights are better than bishops because they can jump over pieces. In open positions, bishops are better than knights because they have more squares to move to. In addition, they can move faster than a knight.

Then why do people say that bishops are better than knights? Well, most games will end up in the endgame, where it is an open position. Here, the bishop will show its dominance over the knight. Plus, 2 knights cannot checkmate against a lone king but 2 bishops can.

2 bishops also cover each others' weaknesses, but depending on the position, usually one bishop is better than the other (good bishop and bad bishop).

It depends on the position on the board. If there are a lot of pawns still remaining, I prefer a knight. If the position is relatively open, I prefer a bishop. In general, you should try to keep bishops on the board because the pawns will eventually get traded and the position will open up.

It also depends on your pawn structure, if most of your pawns are on square of the same color, you wouldn't want to trade the bishop of the opposite color.

i dunno , i personaly hate the goddamn knight the most in chess , they are like rat , dirty and tricky , if i ever have chance to trade them in game i will do it without blinking even

but bishops no , they are fine and normal piece in my opinion

I'm pretty sure that the bishop pair is better in open positions, knight pair in closed. But I'm not certain, and as you can see, I am only a 1500. That's just what I think.

My Blitz and Rapid are both around 2000 and most of my end game were knight vs bishop. On my opinion Bishop and Knight are the same just depend on position! But I like knight better because they can fort and that is very useful tactic specially in bullet or blitz game where time is a problem and you can easily win the bishop with that tactic!
