which is better? knight or bishop

On a closed position, the knight is probably better, especially if it has an outpost (like e5 for example in 1. d4 openings, so occasionally, you might want to exchange your bishop on g4 with the knight in f3, if there is no knight in d2. Or even in the Giuoco Piano where the bishop is exchanged on f6 followed by Nd5).

On an open position, the bishop is way better due to more range, for example when a bishop is on c4 and another one on f4 and black doesn't have much defense. Or the endgame.

#12: Yes - and it also depends on the position if a Queen is better than a Knight ;)

Why do people just repeat same threads without searching them in the forums?
Lichess should do something serious by linking most common topics on threads on the forum page so that it would reduce the amount of unnecessary junk.

There are about fifty pages on knights and bishops in The Amateur's Mind by Jeremy Silman.

@kindaspongey
Yes, I have seen that.
But a normal player would like to see summary instead of theses.
Like the one I linked to a blog by GM Noel Studer.
