I had a convo with some one younger on lichess and they beat me like 4 games in a row and told me I should not be playing chess.
Should I keep playing for fun?
obviously just play for fun. younger ones are sometimes immature. tbh we are once immature too when we were young! chess Is fun so you should play chess for fun until you want to become a tilted master then yeah you need to study and focus more.

Yes. The best players have typically lost more games than us, but have learnt from their losses and kept improving.

You can play for fun but you can still try to hang a bit fewer pieces and take more from your opponents :)

You don't need to be really, really good at something to enjoy it.
Don't listen to those that say you should quit playing chess - they have nothing better to do. I for one think that everyone has a potential to be at least 2000 here if they try! :)

Win or lose, playing chess can tell you a lot about yourself....
Speaking for myself I have learned that I'm impatient, too easily frustrated and get too enthused about my initial impression of things...
Chess has taught me a lot about my character flaws enabling me to try to improve in these areas...
I'm still working on it...

If you enjoy the game, keep playing! Let the haters keep hating, they're a miserable lot. Concentrate on the joy you feel from this wonderful game.

if your opponent has a significantly higher elo, it is normal for this opponent to beat you whether he is a child or not
if the opponent has an elo equal to yours, then this opponent is not stronger than you
if he has won 4 affiliate games, it is just a statistic like any other, it is that when this is recurrent it is not normal
stop playing chess if it's not for fun, some players don't have much fun, but I'm talking about players who force themselves to play and have no fun
It's like in other sports, you don't have to force yourself if you don't enjoy the game.
Afterwards, if you don't like the game, nothing stops you from playing a from time to time, if you like it of course.
