Should I quit chess if I’m not very good a it

...and told me I should not be playing chess
IMHO a comment like this in a game chat says more about your opponent than about you.

The only person who has the right to decide if you should keep playing chess is you. If you feel like it, go on, if you don't, stop (or take a pause). Of course, I mean long term feeling, not just feeling down after a stupid loss or a bad streak. (I've had quite a few of those recently but it didn't make me quit.)

Don ́t worry about the trolls. If you get dragged down by mean comments, just turn the chat off, alltogether with the rating points, and play for the sake of playing.

If someone beats you at something and tells you to quit, you get back up and you train until you beat them.

if I would have listened to the person who told me 6 years ago that I wouldn't be able to do piano concerts, I wouldn't have done 43 concerts this year and had the opportunity to meet incredible people.

so 6 years ago I didn't listen to what this person said.

I stayed myself, I worked twice as hard, I was even more motivated and I managed to realize a lot of dreams and I still have many more.

so be yourself, make mistakes, lose games, and don't worry. but what matters is that you enjoy what you do and that you are unique.

You are not very good at anything in life when you start.
You eventually learn to walk.
You eventually learn to speak.
You will eventually get better.

Chess is a past time when you start, but eventually will be part of your life.

Arguably, you can get a different past time, and make other thing part of your life.
If chess is not fulfilling for you, if its not for you, by all means, quit, do something else.

But dont quit because you are not good at it. Else you will quit virtually anything. Embrace the challenge, overcome it. Whether is chess, break dancing, tetris, swimming, whatever makes you happy.

Be honest, if you quit everything your not good at, what's left? Watching tv while eating donuts? That all you gonna do?
