Cat and Mice - true believers.

When an opponent does not resign a lost game it frustrates me. Perhaps, more secure players that have come to peace with playing a full-chess game could enlighten me on patience and understanding.

If someone does not resign a totally lost position, I have the need to toy with them, as if they were a little mouse. I would like to kick this habit, but I do not know how.

Lol. Well it's a good start that you admit your problem.

Yeah, I used to do that too until I stalemated the guy with four queens.

I‘ll take a more professional approach. No time and energy for such skirmishes.

I wouldn't even care if I stalemate. The victory is moral. He got crushed, and played with like a chump. It is so satisfying.

Sorry @Sarg0n, after our last exchange on Quality and Speed, your comments get relegated to the peripheral-twopenny-halfpenny-picayune pot.

Besides, I am talking about a real psychological issue. A "professional approach" would only deepen my issue. I would become clinical about my king laps: they would become even more swift and efficient.

If everybody "plays with him" like that and he gets the occasional stalemate, he'll of course continue doing it, lol.

You are training his neural network in the wrong direction by toying with him. ;)

Yeah, I know. You are a clever little cat.

I‘m out.

(Happy New Year. @nikosgeo)

Ah! This is where I disagree.

The occasional stalemate costs him twice. Once in time, once in humiliation. Whereas, the occasional stalemate benefits him through 2-3 rating points. So, let's define occasional as 30% (generous!); loss = - 6 draw = +3. Take an average over 10 games. His rating would be (a) If he plays on in all games -3.3 (b) resigns all games -6. For the sake of 2.7 rating points does it make sense to submit yourself to such humiliation?

I can only king-lap with 10secs, so they too need a similar amount of time. Meaning over those ten games that is an extra 3mins20sec + humiliation and they only stand to win 2.7 rating points.

Thus the psychological effect would condition the opponent to gain satisfaction for that draw. So, in effect, they become conditioned to occasional satisfaction and become numb to the humiliation of the king-lap. In essence, because the opponent refuses to resign he becomes conditioned to a beta existence - one which craves the draw: it transforms them into supine-protoplasmic jellyfish.
