I just noticed this now , my notification bell icon has a straight line going through it diagonally and I don't know why, can anyone help me ?

What is even worse, it doesn't work with Safari, iOS. It remains red and you cannot click on the symbol/nor on your handle. No logout possible except for cleaning Safari.

Lichess has been updated as far as I'm aware, it was freaking me oot at first I thought I'd been muted or something. . .

Maybe it's just saying 'no new messages or notifications'

Edit : Alright so even if you receive a message there's still a line through the bell icon, what's the story Lichess?

The diagonal line means you have notifications blocked. You can allow them in site settings (the lock icon to the left of the address bar in Chrome)

Same problem on my IPAD. I can't get access to "Search", "Challenges", "Bell symbol". I can't even get access to my own profile.

On my computer everythings works. Here the "Bell symbol" is also crossed with a diagonal line.

I have the same issue (bell symbol suddenly has diagonal line through it) in Opera browser.

After going into Opera settings - advanced, under Privacy and Security I clicked on Notifications and was presented with a list of websites. I chose lichess and allowed Notifications for this site. Bing Bell has resumed normal service.

I have this problem too (on my Samsung tablet). And I can't accept rematch due to this bug.
