Hello dear lichess community,
i have a question, which doesnt seem to have an answer yet, at least i couldnt found it on lichess or chess com.
I played in a rapid lichess tournament and lost to a 1400-1500 player, who doesnt seem to have a problem to mark his account as a hand-and-brain account. Im like 1900+. In the tournament chat i asked him, whether he is playing hand and brain or not. He wrote to me:
"We are an account we play teacher-alumn, hand and brain"
But isnt this unfair to play like against teacher and student, which have a 500 elo lower account than me? I dont want to be marked as a sore loser, winning is part of the game and also losing. I have lost more games than i won on lichess, because i play for fun. I just want to clearify whether this hand and brain with a teacher doesnt violate the lichess regularities or not. Should i get a rating refund? I just asked because im curious and nobody seem to have an answer like that in lichess yet. Please answer and share your thoughts so other people whohave this same question in the future can get their answers here.
If they specify that in the profile, then they are not cheating. They are telling you in advance. Perhaps a cleared message when you originally get paired with them should also pop up for clarity. But again, they are not playing in tournaments, they are playing regular games for the sake of learning, as most are.
I dont see any problem at all.
@Alientcp We are talking about a tournament game , how can i tell them in advance? If i let the time run out or leave i lose. We are talking about a tournament situation not a normal rated game. Hand and brain accounts shouldnt play in tournaments or do you disagree?
What does "hand and brain"mean ?
@Catastrov Hand and Brain means, that there are two players. One player is the brain, who tells you what piece you should move (but there are also situations where they tell you the exact move) and the other player is the hand, who is moving the pieces and excuting the moves. I have no problem with that at all, but in tournament games its just unfair, playing against a much lower account and losing because the rating doesnt display the player you play. Who did i play ? the teacher or the student? This is not clearified and that is why i found it unfair.
But how will you get too know that he is using hand and brain
@TalMagicalDragon he told it to me after i asked, because of the username. And i cant avoid playing because its a tournament game. Leaving the game is an instant loss for me
He could be lying also if someone uses hand and brain how will you get to know some users might not tell
@TalMagicalDragon whether he is lying or not is not important. I just want to know whether hand and brain doesnt violate the fair play even after he confessed that. He told me he is doing that with his teacher, literally this is confusing
its clear violation but i do not think you can have a solution too it
