The interface change is not bad. It's still great, but I prefer the old one.
I liked how I could quickly change the sound and board size with a single click. Now you have to click one extra time to get there, which feels like 3 clicks, but it's only 2.
Also, I don't like reading. So when I click the drop-down menu, there's a big list to read through to only wonder, "Where is board size? is that in geometry or theme?" Click, click, ESC.
+1 for the old interface!
It was beautiful, intuitive for new users and only one click away. This really feels like a change "because we can" from the developers' side (nobody is perfect)

Probably,I have used that menu at most twice or thrice in the last 17 months in which I have been on lichess. Let's not whine because of something like this.

Let's not force people to put on panties over their heads and everything will be fine.
I often play as a guest. By default there is a set of figures that I really do not like and I change it every time to another one. This happens several times a day. It used to be much easier.
The default sound is off. So it should be included. And it began to do too much more difficult.
Let's not prove to people that it's become better, because it's not. They became worse and much worse!

That is not a good philosophy.
And let's get rid of all these items in the setup menu? 5-7 clicks and everything is OK! Instead of 2 clicks.
You are not right. The interface should be user friendly.
Since the list is all about the user preferences, grouping the profile, mail and sign in together is fine, but the Preference should probably be grouped with the other screen preferences.
It would make the word Preferences look like a sub title.

Whenever I log in, the drop-down menu is showing, as it does when the username is pressed, and I have to click on the background to make it disappear before I can make a seek. I hope this is temporary as I think it is better that the menu remains hidden until summoned.
